View the latest post Merger Announcement and other big news!

Hello, everyone! I've got some big news in bundles today to stir up the silence that SE's been giving us lately. Nothing directly related to FFXIV though, I'm afraid.

The first is easily the most important: As of Sunday, July 26, FFXIVOrigins.com will go into slumber. Wait! There's a good reason, and it has absolutely nothing to do with lack of interest, activity, or any other silly reason. The lack of advertising for this site was my own doing as I didn't really see a point; just look at erozeapedia to see what I mean. Still, obviously, it's great to be around and soak up search engine rankings so when SE drops heavy news and interest flares we'll be around to absorb all the newcomers.

Well, that was the original plan. Recently I have been contacted by John Milburn, creator and owner of http://www.FFXIVCore.com with a humble proposal: merge our sites and staff and focus our efforts. Those of you might know him from http://www.AionSource.com, likely mentioned by Mark who originally created AionSource before Curse hired him,...

View the latest post Square Enix Tears Up the Charts

Interesting article over at Zam. Square Enix is tearing up the charts in Japan according to the newest issue of Famitsu. Quite a few of their games are on the chart including Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XII, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Weighing in at a mighty rank of 28 out of 30 with 347 stalwart lil' voters behind it, Final Fantasy XIV burst onto the scene after quietly biding its time for a little over a month. It will be interesting to see where Square Enix's newest MMO will go from here, but even more interesting to get some new tidbits on the title itself.

However, Square Enix also has several other entries on the charts of which to boast. It's twin RPG franchises, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are certainly making their mark on the gaming industry this year. The data that follows was collected via survey of Famitsu readers between July 3rd and July 9th...

Don't get used to it though, as typically blog posts will be from Monday to Friday unless something very interesting happened on the weekend.

Still, I hope you'll all enjoy reading up on the blog in the days to come. Suggestions and comments are welcome, but before so let me add a very short list of pending features:

View the latest post Crystal 's Reflection | July

Hello ladies and gentlemen! I've decided to start a monthly feature named "Reflections". At the start of each month I'll post a tidbit directed to our community. The topics can be about anything, really, but I'll try to focus on the progress of the site, any important happenings, our current goal and direction, and things like that. Kind of like a newsletter, I suppose. So here's the first, off with a bang:

July's Intriguing Quote

I'll put a quick quote up every month with the source to get the juices flowing. July's quite may of been said before by another (haven't checked), but I've actually come up with it for one of my in-progress novels. And because I was bored, here's a splash of color and presentation to along with it:

View the latest post Connect On! Recap Article

Well, seems like Zam! is just pouring with news in these calm after-times in the wake of E3's exciting announcements. Not that we're surprised of course, while FFXIV announcement excited us as much as anyone else, without any real information we're left to giggling like little school girls over speculation while we diligently await more information from big SquareEnix.

This very same reason may be why our respectful fellow fansites are keeping an eye tightly on all FFXIV information, including snippets from Japanese magazines. As I don't live in japan, I wasn't able to nab a copy of Connect on! but nonetheless here is the article courtesy of Zam!:

View the latest post Dengeki Playstation Magazine Interview

The folks at Zam have yet another article up involving Dengeki Playstation magazine's coverage of FFXIV. Dive in to read the full story:

Image

The July 10th issue of Dengeki Playstation magazine has hit the shelves, and it contains a brand new interview with Hiromichi Tanaka and Kouichi Ogawa of the Final Fantasy XI development team.

Hiromichi Tanaka is the producer of Final Fantasy XI, which was the first MMO for the Final Fantasy series. He will continue his work at Square Enix as producer for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIV.

Kouichi Ogawa worked on the Treasures of Aht Urghan and Wings of the Goddess expansions for Final Fantasy XI. He also contributed to A Crystalline Prophecy, and will continue to develop the next two add-on scenarios: A Moogle Kupo d'Etat and A Shantotto...
